The FutureHotel Innovation Network as part of the Fraunhofer
Institute is the leading think tank and innovation laboratory for
research and development of pioneering hotel solutions. This
network of experts has been researching for over ten years and is
currently in its sixth research phase. Topics like the future hotel
room, current and future needs of guests, new work environment
within the hotel, the use and potential of technology in the hotel
industry, digital transformation such as innovative concepts form
the main parts of the research areas. Even before the pandemic,
there were many innovations in the hotel industry. Is the crisis
the great opportunity to bring new ideas and concepts to the hotel

Constructing to continue history and existing buildings is an
interplay of challenges and opportunities. One strategy is to
persist in a museum-like preservation of the past, another strategy
is to courageously continue building with history.
The roots of Studio Lotus lie in learning history and local environment. They follow an iterative and incremental methodology of innovation. Studio Lotus takes a deep contextual approach to its work and combines this with a strong focus on tactile and sensory qualities of space. Their design process looks at sustainability through multiple lenses of cultural, social and environmental impacts. There is an active engagement in integrating local skills and resources with state of the art materials and technologies.

The need for healthy homes has hardly
ever been more apparent than during the present global condition.
The current efforts to reduce the negative impacts of buildings are
inadequate. Therefore, we need to start rethinking the way we
design our built environment. With a fascination for the principles
of biophilic design, GG-loop has developed the concept of Mitosis,
a holistic, regenerative, collective ecosystem. The name refers to
the biological process of a single cell dividing itself into two
identical daughter cells. It represents the modularity and the
long-term adaptation of the system and serves as a metaphor for a
flexible co-living organism. In this structure each residential
unit coexists in symbiosis with all the others.
